Our Verification Framework

The Tree Hugging Challenge Registry maintains transparent, community-driven verification standards to ensure credibility while celebrating genuine environmental and social advocacy.

Verification Levels

Unverified
Initial submission status. Challenge is visible on the platform but has not yet been reviewed for evidence of completion.
Verified ✓
Admin-reviewed submissions with sufficient media evidence (photos/videos), location verification, and documented duration. Participant biography verified.
Community Verified
Challenges verified through witness confirmation and community corroboration. Witness must provide contact information and independent corroboration of challenge details.

Evidence Requirements

Media Evidence
• Photos or videos during challenge activities
• Timestamped media showing date/time
• Location identifiable in media (landmarks, signs)
• Multiple media files spanning the duration (for longer challenges)
Location Proof
• GPS coordinates (optional but recommended)
• Identifiable landmarks in photos
• Local map integration validation
• Cross-reference with public location data
Duration Documentation
• Start and end times documented
• Media timestamps showing passage of time
• Witness statement corroborating duration
• Reasonable consistency with physical evidence
Witness Confirmation
• Independent witness name and contact
• Written statement describing what they witnessed
• Relationship to participant (friend, family, stranger)
• Contact verification by registry moderators

Submission Process

  1. Participant submits challenge details with evidence
  2. Automated checks verify location and basic requirements
  3. Registry moderators review submission within 7 days
  4. Moderators may request additional evidence or clarification
  5. Verified status assigned upon approval
  6. Challenge appears on participant profile with badge

We Reject Submissions That:

  • Involve harm to trees or environment
  • Violate local laws or trespassing regulations
  • Show unsafe practices or risk-taking
  • Contain false or misleading information
  • Lack credible evidence of completion
